Sound/Spelling Correspondences is a tool for teachers and/or adults so that:

• they can be sure of the consonant sound/spelling correspondences;
• they can develop their knowledge of the vowel system; and
• they can develop their ability to teach it.

Young students will require the significantly more extensive presentation and practice as outlined in Essential Word Knowledge Skills. Older students may need more extensive presentation and practice as well.
